Beginning With 1942, Data Represent NBER Averages Of Four Or Five Weekly (Wednesday) Data. Figures Pertaining To The First, Second, And Third Of A Month Were Added To The Preceeding Month Under The Assumption That The Greater Part Of The Week Ending On One Of Those Dates Fell In The Preceeding Month.
